/ THE MELTING POT

The Melting Pot Cabaret began in October 2008.  Supported by Neighbourhood Management, it set out to engage residents in cultural events and activities through a cosmopolitan programme of music, poetry, cabaret and workshops.

These initial nights were used as a focus to bring in artists and audiences from the international communities and to encourage local retauranteurs and cafe owners to become cultural programmers.

Over 18 months, SeaChange worked with local partners and artists to establish a series of regular cabret nights in Bar Tembo and a number of showcases at events  including the Out There festival, the Beer & Cider festival and late night shopping evenings in the town centre.

In February 2009, a weekly workshop series was introduced  at Diversity Cafe offering DJ workshops and acoustic and electric guitar sessions.
